Raised in the red clay hills of north Louisiana, Mike comes from a background rich in southern gospel and bluegrass music. At an early age, he developed his own unique style of singing by listening to groups like the Speer Family, Florida Boys, and The Happy Goodman Family. Those early years and his love for southern gospel music established deep roots and built a foundation on how God would later use Mike in his music ministry.
Although he was raised in church, Mike wasn’t saved until he was twenty three years old. In April 1978, Mike gave his heart and soul to Jesus Christ. Mike experienced a new birth, not only in Christ, but in his renewed love for gospel music. By now, new southern gospel artists like The Hinsons were performing across the country and their music and their style would have a lasting impression on him. For many years, Mike has continued to sing as a soloist and with various groups in his church and special events.
In early 2012, Mike felt a calling from the Lord to begin his solo music ministry. After much prayer, God began to open doors and put the right people in his path. Since then, Mike has released two CD projects, Anchor of Hope and All the King’s Horses.
It is his desire that his music will glorify God and encourage listeners. Mike sings from his heart and all of his songs are prayerfully chosen, holding fast to his favorite scripture, Psalm 40:3 “He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God.”
Mike and his wife, Phyllis, reside in West Monroe, LA.
